Basic Estate Planning
Our firm also serves our clients' basic estate planning needs, which includes the drafting of Wills, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Directives and similar documents. Such documents are important if clients want to have control over what happens to their assets when they die, and professionally prepared estate planning documents also minimize the likelihood of disagreements between surviving family members. We focus our estate planning services on clients who have a net worth which is less than the Unified Credit ("UC"). Estates with a value less than the UC are not taxed. For 2008 this figure is $2,000,000, and will increase to $3,500,000 in 2009. The Estate Tax will be eliminated entirely in 2010, before reappearing with a $1,500,000 UC in 2011.
